Join us to learn the art and science of soapmaking! The hands-on class gives participants the opportunity to help make soap, decorate the tops of their own bars, and keep 2 bars of soap! Make it a date night, a girls’ night out, a guys’ night out, or just a fun thing to do on your own!
Soap will be ready to collect 4 weeks after the class, which is in time for Christmas if you want to use them as gifts! Or you can keep your bars for yourself - that’s cool too!
Soap pickup date will be Sunday, December 13, at the church, unless you speak to the teacher to make other arrangements.
Location: Beans Corner Baptist Church
17 Chesterville Rd
Jay, ME 04239
Date: November 12, 2026
Time: 6:00 pm (until about 7:30-8)
The Boring (But Important) Stuff:
~Participants must be 16 or older, or accompanied by an adult.
~Because soap-making involves working with lye, which comes with some risk, younger children will not be allowed to interact with the lye even with parental supervision, but may be able to help with non-lye portions of the production.
~Participants should wear long sleeves you don’t mind getting messy, closed-toe shoes, and hair tied back (if long enough to require that). All other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
*Note: if you wish to attend but cost is prohibitive, please reach out. I’d love to help make it possible for you.
